Firefox has been giving me some major headaches the last few days.. pop ups and acting sluggish so I went to Apple Safari, and the pit loads in record time, and looks mush richer and sharp in this browser.
Is that due to the code, or the browser?

Safari is webkit, so that or Chrome will be almost the same.
Firefox is Gecko... sounds like you have a b0rked installation if you're having issues.
Everything should look the same, although Safari uses different font smoothing techniques to everything else on Windows so that may affect the text. It'd be more noticeable if you weren't running with cleartype enabled.
