Just bought a Radeon 9600 pro... seemed fine. Can finally run bf42 fast!

But then I tried mapping. If I've got HL and Hammer running simultaneously, then I quit HL, the puter hangs for about 5sec on a black screen, and 20% of the time it locks up completely and I need to kick the reset.

Any ideas? It works fine if I havent got Hammer running.

Did you get the latest drivers for it?

Give your pc specs.

AMD Duron 1ghz, 512mb sdram, 40gb hdd, MSI mobo 4xAGP

Card is PowerColor Radeon 9600pro 256mb with TV/DVI

I'm using the drivers that came with the card... theyre fairly recent though. I think theyre Cat 4.1, but I'm not sure.

Other than this prob, the card works great. Much better than my old GF2 mx200!

http://www.omegacorner.com

Although ATI drivers have gotten better, Omega drivers still seem better and more stable.

Thanks, I'll try those omega drivers.

I'm running HL in opengl, is that significant? I know hammer uses opengl for the 3d view, so maybe theres a conflict there? I'll try running HL in different modes, see what that does.

Ah...that's right, still there are cards that don't like running 2 OpenGL apps at the same time. Yes, make sure you're not running WC/Hammer/AnyOtherOpenGLApp, while running HL

Yeah, that seems to be it Edge.

Will the omega drivers fix this, or is it a problem on the actual card?

I tried it with HL in d3d and software modes, it does the same thing.
