HL2 Capture the Flag ctf_Dartmoor

A curvy L shaped Arena with Sniper Towers at the intersection with the only entry through a central pool.

  • Added Central Sniper Towers (Accessible by Pool.<LI>Adjusted various Textures/Weapon Placement.<LI>Set all Exploding Barrels to 60sec respawn.<LI>Added Exploding Barrels to pool.
01-02-06 UPDATED to Alpha3
  • Added a quick 3D Skybox.<LI>Added a mini pillbox to each base.
Added Map for Download on Fateback and Rapidshare. Fateback is instant D/loads but due to a upload restriction, each alpha is split into 200k RAR parts. (Alpha2 is 4 parts. Alpha3 is 6)

  • Add Player_Clips in various places.<LI>Alter Geometry to make use of Smoothing Groups.<LI>Enhance 3D Skybox<LI>Optimise all ground to a single Displacement.<LI>Improve global Texturing/Lighting.

This is a remake of a much loved multiplayer map from an old game, Star Trek: Elite Force.

Klingon based L shape map "Honor"

The Stone Columns are placed to allow skilled players to "bunny-hop" from one end of the map to the other. We had a lot of fun & wasted a lot of time playing with this. :)

As the Original Map, it is complete, but I've decided to boost it a bit, by adding an extra floor in the bases with high walkways as an alternate attack/defence point, although dangerous as the only way to the upper level is through the spawn rooms.

I'm afraid that due to the excessive player speed in the current hl2ctf, this map may be too fast. Have not been able to test with decent enough numbers yet.

Any comments or suggestions on these ideas are welcome!

Information

A Capture The Flag level set in and around a Combine fortress. The concept is akin to the Great Wall of China; a huge defensive wall stretching 1000's of miles used by the Combine to secure their borders.

If you haven't already done so, download the HL2CTF mod from http://www.hl2ctf.com and install it. This level will NOT work without it.

A Capture The Flag level set inside a prison during a riot. The prisoners are in command of the prison, with Combine armed forces brought in to breach the walls.

CREDITS:

Unknown author of tdm_flagtest.vmf which served as a basis for my ctf entities.

The doorways with six glass panels are from the Valve DM_Lockdown vmf file. All other brushwork is new.

I've stopped working on the entire map at once and have started work on a "lite" version consisting of only the middle area. The 92 release has different texturing, added physics objects and other graphical changes.

This was a map I created in 24 hours, obviously not my best work, but showcases the ability to create lightning effects, use random sound timers to create a more realistic enviroment, and to prove to someone tht a symetrical map can be made quickly and often can be boring.

This is the dm_lambda_bunker map I made, but converted into CTF. The 1.1 version is the same, but with the upcoming patch I have added more to the bunker and tweaked a couple issues.
