This was my third HL2DM map, and IMO better than the ones I made before it and after.
It takes place in a city that was abandoned right before the 7-hour War, and in which the Combine never had much presence. I'm quite happy with the layout and the good performance, but I know some things could have been better:
  • The sun doesn't match the sky
-Some more buildings should have roofs
-Some physics objects collide with the player while stepping on them.

I'll try to find the vmf and make a newer version with all the provided suggestions and +2 years of Source-mapping experience :)

Considering our rocky beginning, I totally forgot that you made this.

I found it, quite a while before I met you so my opinion is totally separate from our history.

This wasn't my favorite HL2 map, but it was in the top 10.

It has a few niggles, but nothing to get worked up over.
Before you ask, it wasn't looks. My favorite map is ugly as hell but it plays fantastically. This map plays nearly as well.

I didnt read the other replys so this may have been mentioned, but my only complaint with this map is the spanws. We used this map for STA league play 4v4, the spawn killing was the worste of any map. I love the map in general besides that. Try and consiter the spots you aim your cursor while moving around the map and DONT put the spawn there. All your spawns are in the open in the middle of a hallway or open area, try and put them against walls and in corners so the person moving about the map has to move thier cursor a drastic ammount to kill the guy that spawns. Him moving his mouse THAT much usualy always gives the player that spawned atleast a chance to move. I would love you forever if u compiled a fixed spawn version of this map for our league play. as for reg pub play its a lot more fun cause I dont have to take it seriously :p

Cool. Thanks for the screenshots and suggestions. A couple of them had occurred to me in the +1year since the map was made, so I might make a dm_8hour or something.
There's also a mistake nobody seems to have noticed. In the room with the subway station below it, there's a window on the outside that is totally absent in the inside! :)

Looking at the screens the map lacks lighting color. Don't use white (or almost white) lights so often. Get in some yellows or blues.

I love most of the architecture. Very HL2-ish but if that is the goal (like here) I have no problem with it. I might take a closer look later.

Oh and yes, this soundscape it's ... well... it scared the s**t out of me. I can't listen to it for more than 5 minutes. It's making me totally crazy. In some way that's pretty cool but, lol, I had to put of my earphones off after a while because it really psyched me out. Maybe try more different ones or tune it down a bit?
