I know this topic is old but I heard that onesneakymouse went to prison. I'm actually the person that taught OSM how to map back when he started though I haven't talked to him in quite a while. Since recently getting back into the HL scene I've hooked up with some old buddies that knew him as well. Anyway I'm not sure of the validity but it’s the word that’s going around.
Life may go on, but it doesn't mean we have to leave what we once loved behind in the dirt!
This place is nostalgic, -I agree, but such a place doesn't simply become 'extinct' or inadequate after a whole bunch of people leave. It doesn't take a whole lot of resources (read: active people) to keep up a site such as this. I mean, look at how long we've been doing it thus far? -And the number of people we still help on a daily basis! This place will live on as long as the mapping community stays alive!

Rat's maps were pretty fun, and I don't believe he's creating any 'original' ones any more, but there are plenty that have been converted for Source that you can find.

Lots of people have since moved on - either to mod other games, or to start a job (or both). I often feel a bit nostalgic when I come back here, or when I see screenshots from old levels from 'back in the days'.
I guess he stopped mapping and moved on. I remember this place used to be more active when I first joined and it was even more active before I joined and used to be the number one place for Half-Life 1 mapping back in the day, but when Half-Life 2 was released the Half-Life 1 mapping scene started to decline and alot of people here left. I don't know, something went wrong back then and we lost alot of people, Interlopers seems to be the place for Half-Life 2 mapping and TWHL still has a fairly stable Half-Life 1 community.
I guess his legacy will live on, I've seen alot of rats maps, its considered a whole genre of map type!
