RELEASED APRIL 2004.
Explore a revamped Black Mesa, blasting aliens and military alike. A mysterious being seems to be communicating with you, through sarcastic text messages. What are his true intentions? Beware, for nothing is as it seems. Will you survive? Will you leave... A legacy?
While a lot of issues was hit or miss, Legacy was certainly the high point and was worth the download just to experience it. Beautiful surroundings (though a couple of overly dark spots? maybe just my settings), some cool gameplay sequences, and some good old humour thrown in for good measure. If only there were more to it, but then I guess its meant to be quite short when its part of a larger entity!
Played it all the way through. Some of the maps were a bit tacky, especially the very first one with all of the boxy rooms. Xenpit was quite fun, it had the multi-floor complexity similar to gmdm2, however I seemed to have explored everywhere and I couldn't see what was left, even after noclipping around to check. Shame it wasn't finished. Legacy is quite good, one of the best maps in the pack. Can't really think of much to fix on that one.
Quite a fun level pack overall though, kept me at it for a good few hours.
I don't use steam yet, don't play HL online
Some of it looks good, haven't played it yet mind you, but the touch of the messages seems a cool idea. When it's done send a link to PC Gamer magazine, they tend to put mods on thier CD's...
Yeah I couldn't get it working with steam either, so I used my old HL installation (left on for occasions such as this  ). I personally thought the textures were fine to great, shaderlab textures are perfectly sexy!
The majority of the brushwork (95%) is all left over from MrBen's DarkTruths maps. All I did was optimize it (he made some stupid design decisions, had to fix those to get r_speeds decent - ah, the ignorance of youth!) Ditto with the texturing; it's all unaltered Shaderlab stuff. Blame MrBen, that lazy git! runs from MrBen's wrath
