Today at school when having a design related course, where we use
macintoshs when working, my computer froze. I told my teacher what had
happened. She then told me it had happened because I had downloaded and
installed fonts on it. After a while she basically asked me if I was an
idiot and the whole thing ended with me telling her to shove the
computers up her arse and f**k off, quitting the course.
My question is: Is it possible that downloading and installing fonts
may cause a computer (a macintosh) to freeze? A better question might
be: How likely is it that downloading and installing fonts may cause a
computer (a macintosh) to freeze? In this case it was a macintosh (with
osx, I think) and the fonts where downloaded from dafont.com. I
installed the fonts in the Fonts folder in the Library folder on a
specific user (I think, I'm not very familiar with macs and their
folder structures). Anyway, I probably did it correctly as I could use
them, and they appeared in the font menus inside programs.
Would be interesting to know. She also said that downloading fonts is
the same as downloading music off the internet, which it isn't, as most
music is copyright protected while the fonts on dafont aren't.
Please excuse any improper language in this post. I'm tired and slightly upset. Goodnight and thanks in advance.
