Whenever I play Freelancer my computer will lock up and the screen blurs about 5 minutes into the game and then I have to shut the computer off and turn it back on again. Any ideas? It does this every time I play it.

my first inclination is to make sure all the drivers are up to date and accurate....the thing that bothers me is the length of time till crash....gorby and jeff have a point on cpu heat tho....although in my experience, heat problems manifest themselves in other ways....just my 2 cents
Doc Brass... :dodgy:

the joys of copper based heatsinks... The only better are full copper but they are expensive.
Freelancer, whats the required specs for the game and what are your PC specs?

freelancer has some of the biggest universes i have EVER seen in any video game (and yes folks i actually bought freelancer)
personally i doubt its anything to do with nVidia, cause my son played it for 2 months on my 1.4 thunderbird with a PCI 440 se nVidia card.
the only time it had issues was flying from one location to another with a lower ship that took ages to get there, the PC started running sluggish.
post your PC specs for a comparison.
mine was a 1.4 athlon T-bird, 512 sdram,64 meg 440se.
i always keep the newest drivers i can locate, and up to date DX drivers.
i say this again, freelancer is forking huge, the biggest i have ever seen, i am betting you are running out of either ram, or hard drive space, but there is always the chance you have insufficient hardware or drivers.
