I loaded up Hammer the other day and it started to run slow. Really slow before I even did anything. Even klicking new map and just adding a brush to the empty map or moving around goes at a very slow speed (2 seconds wait for everything, even when I switch all views to 2D).

I didn't have this a week ago.
I never had it before.
No, it's not the undo levels, no it's not my RAM. I checked both to be ok and it happens before I do anything. I restarted/reloaded everything. I highly doubt it's spyware or similar as other, more demanding programs run at perfect speed.

Anyone knows a solution?

PS: The moment I posted this I found a possible cause: My HL2 files have to be re-loaded. The sound and texture files seem to be still there as I can load everything in Hammer but probably there's a problem with incomplete gcf-files. That must be it.

Why didn't I think of this 3 minutes (or 3 hours) ago?

Yep, that was it. Steam just hadn't finished downloading all the HL2 content completely.
