Hey guys,

The computer has been running great and no real problems to speak off. I am have something happening, and this has happened before too so its nothing really new. I first noticed this after we moved into our current house so I'm thinking its something with the wall socket or maybe my power bar.

While Im using my computer I will hear pops comming out of my speakers, just one every 2 minutes about. It kinda sounds like the the sound when you turn your speakers on. Also I'll notice a tiny barely noticeable glitch on the monitor, like a movement of the picture.

To my untrained eye I would say it is something to do with power, BUT I know it isnt my power supply cuz it did that with my old one and just seemed to stop after a while. The same thing will happen if the garage door is opening or closing. Another possible problem is because I just upgraded my sound card drivers, thats when I first noticed it happening again. Around that time I also changed the sound acceleration to Basic as part of a troubleshooting thing. I turned it back to where it was though.

Any ideas? I'm hoping I need to get a new power bar or switch plugs on my wall socket.

Could be power surges, un-shielded speakers (and thus interference) could from from a myriad of sources. What speakers do you have?

it sounds like the magnetic fields of the monitor and the speakers are interfereing with each other.

ever put any thing magnetic near a monitor and seen the scanlines bend as the aiming magnet inside the monitor is distorted? It might be the same idea here.

a simple deguass will fix it if thats the case

Sounds like you're on the same circuit at the garage door and some other appliances. Look at your breaker box (or ask your parents to help you, if you don't know what you're doing) to see the circuit layout of your home.

You can also try to plug some things into another outlet, or better yet, other circuits.

Popping speakers, however, is interference. No other explanation, really. It's due to bare wires hitting some conductor, or poor shielding of the cables. Could be a number of things that are the root, however.

Picture manipulation on any sort of tube based visual system can be cause by a magnet. Or the monitor could be dying.

You should move your speakers away from the monitor, as most speakers contain magnets.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

A electric garage door I would imagine, not a manual one.

A mobile phone could cause interference too.
