Please read carefully.....Background: I have two PC's...one is my dedicated server and one is my gamming/development pc....I created a custom soundscape following the tutorial. The soundscape.txt matches the name of my map. The soundscape runs perfectly everytime on my pc in a non dedicated mode, runs perfectly on other peoples pcs (I paked the script file in the bsp) when joining my dedicated server. It does not seem to run for some reason when I join my own dedicated server as a client. I get this error "bad soundscape!". Anyone see this before and what did the do to fix it. I would think if something was wrong with my soundscape to begin with it would not play...but play it does in a non-dedicated mode (even if I delete my script directory) it will still work fine as it is being picked up in the bsp file but if I join my dedicated server...arghhh. I did search on the web and it showed me the actual "C++" code (I think it is C++), but is seems to have to do with indexing. Just wanted to find out if other mappers have run into this wierd problem. I will say that I can get it to work intermitently if I delete the manifest file or parts of the script folder...or even removing it entirely...but that makes no sense to me...logic is not prevailing hear. There must be something going on with my gaming/development pc when joining a dedicated server. Another little note. If I join my dedicted server as a client (from the dedicted server pc) it works just fine too. really wierd! I always get the good ones! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It looks like I got this all sorted out finally. The key was imbedding the soundscape_manifest.txt file into the bsp file as well. If you just include your custom soundscape.txt file then you run the risk of having problems. It's better to be safe than sorry...not having your soundscapes play can really ruin a great map.
