Set in an aged city in the future, you are in an old storm water drain that was built in 2020 for the people of Hexam City. The virus recently found its way to Earth via a wrecked human spacecraft that drifted into deep space 50 years ago. They repaired/boarded the ship and translated the on board documents and revealed Earths location. The virus has infected almost the whole of Hexam city and continue to expand outwards consuming all in its path. Earths single governing force is trying to contain the threat and stop the virus from gathering around the crash site, they fear there the virus brought something with them, something dangerous.

The force has recently swept the storm water drains to prevent the virus from moving through the 'undergrounds', an easy direct way out of the city, and turn off the water flow to prevent the water borne parasite from getting into the ocean. All that remains of them is corpses and plenty of unused ammo.

This map is a multiplayer map from my mod "reddawn". As you can see with the story, its a single and multiplayer mod. Because the map uses content from reddawn, the map has to be run in mod form and requires custom dlls, models... . However, I was able to reduce the download to less than 30mb. So I hope the download size for one map doesn't scare you off. Anyway, tell me what you think

Also, run the map in singleplayer mode and explore everywhere

You can once someone has implemented shader support.

Aaron, you should make this for a mod that already has these things implemented. If one doesn't already exist, make a new one through steam with the files needed then host that somewhere.

The problem with the current method is people have to go in and rename files and such ...
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Like I said in the TWHL thread, it looks pretty cool! = >

I didn't play it that long (It lags my meager system), but it looked great
from what I saw. Are there some effects I can easily toggle off or disable
to make it smoother for poor me?

Likes:

+Strong attention to detail with models and detail brushwork
+Nice lighting
+Nice sounds
+Cool new effects

Dislikes:

None that I can really think of at this point, until I play it some moar.

I didn't check the wpolys/epolys , but not like they matter all that much
anymore.

One more question: Did your original mod--redddawn--have anything thing to do
with the movie about the kids that fight the Russians?

Anyway nice work keep it up! = )

Thanks for trying the map captain terror

Not really. Lowering the half-life resolution is probably the best thing to do. There is also a parameter that you can enter a max view distance, this can save on processing power if you have a slow computer. However if you have a bad graphics card (even if it can run normal half-life without issue) than there is nothing you can really do.

Nope. I have gotten strange messages before about the name of my mod and how they relate to other movies, but I assure you, this mod is totally original. If you read the first two paragraphs, you would have a good idea about the story around the part where this map originally came from (it was pieced from two single player maps, try and guess where the trigger_changelevel was  ). In other words, you are part of that squad that goes into the sewers....

Again, thanks for playing

Now some folks may know that I am releasing a map pack for Half-life 1. The pack contains finished versions of the Outskirts and Sewer map, which are multiplayer maps from Red Dawn. As such, I am working on improving and finishing off this map. Some of the improvements include:
  • Improved ambient sound
  • More playable spaces
  • Improvements in map brush work
  • Texture changes
  • Lighting improvements
  • Properly massed out upstairs spaces
  • Slight weapon placement and spawn point placement tweaks
  • Something I wanted to get working before but couldn't get working
Now I am setting the release date approximately 1 week from today, so I don't have alot of time on the sewer map. So now is the perfect time to download the older version, give it a run through, and tell me EVERYTHING you didn't like about it, as well as the things you liked. That would be much appreciated. Now I'm going to finish off with a new screenshot of one of the maps downstairs spaces.

ZOMGZ, this one is bright enough to see properly

This is one of the new spaces I have added. Its pretty well covered area so it would be good for a few of your freinds to set up a camp and score some kills. You might also notice that there is a hall way leading from the new space to the little platform (below the 3 lights), this little hallway addition has changed the dynamics of the area. You'll also notice that the lights are much brighter. And yes, I do realize there is a glitch with the water...

Your screen looks remarkably good for hl1.
I find it odd that the brightest spot in the room is the ceiling. Other than that it looks good.
Reality has become a commodity.

Ahh thanks mate.

I suppose those half-life 2 textures are a bit off putting. About that little bright spot, its a small light entity causing that, there is meant to be a light fixture there but I still haven't decided the best light type (fluorescent, hanging....) for that area.
