Did the SnarkPit have to be changed from .com to .net and then have to be rebuilt completely because the guy with a rotting face and lipstick avatar not pay hosting fees?

The domain change had nothing to do with the site redesign AFAIK
Apparently the .com was lost due to being registered with a dodgy company that went bust... but that was long before I became involved with the site and may not have the details correct on that.
The site got redone from scratch really just because the old code was getting pretty outdated and the layout/design totally buried most of the content.
Some of the main changes have been to the database to allow a few new things to be added and hopefully organise things a bit better.

snarkpit.com was lost, i can't remember why - it was probably the Oktagone fiasco that engulfed us (and many other sites) a while ago now. Needless to say Oktagone are now out of business.
As for fees, Leperous always paid the fees on time and in full, we were just the victim of circumstance. And no, the domain name only gets renewed on a biannual basis.
