I dont know whether this is good or not...It has big numbers and says it has DirectX9 compatibility, OpenGL1.4 compatibility, and its for the imfamous PCI slot. I want to know if this is good deal or not, as this is what i want my half life 2 to run on. I figured I could ask here, as most of the people won't flame me for asking a stupid question(and i know that you all have at least minimal computer knowledge). :pimp2:

seems you are stuck in the same boat i am in..

well we can solve it in 3 ways, or at least i can..

1) i have the card just below this one you have posted above, and i am hoping it may be enuff to map with at least, cause i used it with U2 with no problems..

2) i will get the card you posted and hope 2 times the ram compensates for the PCI issue..

3) i have been looking for a cheap motherboard and AGP card that would cost about the same as the card you posted and swapping all my current hardware to it..

right now, i feel 1 will be more likely to occur, but i favor 3 the most because it will help the most in the long run..

you might consider it as well..

you need to look here:

www.pricewatch.com  for a good MB..

and

www.tigerdirect.com  for prices with pictures to hook them to

hope this helps

my current PC is..

1.4 Athlon Thunderbird HP pavilion

512 pc 133 ram

64 meg Nvidia 440se video card.. PCI

I'd suggest you look for some performance specs. Try NVIDIA's site maybe. IMO, you could maybe spring for a new MoBo with AGP slots.Settle for a cheaper card for now, then upgrade once you get the Moolah. That's what I did anyway.

/2cents (Like Orph says  )

"...It has big numbers and says it has DirectX9 compatibility"

The fact he posted here may tell you he may not know what AGP/PCI are & the differences. He probably searched for a cheapish card & because of that found a PCI one.

i have to accept your reasoning korn, cause you obviously believe it..

if this is true, then he needs to search harder, cause there is the same card, same price in an AGP style.. i know cause i already looked for myself..

you see, this was my next choice in cards as well

No, i have no AGP slot in there (so quit bickering), the "it has big numbers" thing was a joke, and i think i want this GFX card. Well, im done here, who wants pizza?

oh, and the AGP version of it was $100

I dont understand why the PCI is more expensive than the AGP.

it is more expensive because it is older technology, most computers now come with AGP video cards, or atleats an AGP slot.  it is like 1)DDR -> 2)78pin ram, for 128 mb  1)70$ 2)99$

and for my video card, the TNT2 M64 PRO the PCI is 75$ and the AGP is 55$
