I agree with you that it's Terrorist biased and I want to make it more fun.

I had ideas of adding a sewer perhaps but does water lag servers?

What's up with the gigantic pile of broken cars :/? The fire, too.

Tbh, it looks like it could be HL1 with fancy textures/models. Make the architecture much spiffier, put some more detailing props in, and just make it look a bit better/high-poly.

Sorry to sound so negative: But it seems to have lost all atmosphere and it has no theme atm. The fire looks silly and out of place, and the second shot is VERY boring to look at.

And as Rabid said, very HL1 atm.

Trapt, it's not your fault that you sound negative and it's my fault for not fully explaining everything in the map.

I am appauled though at the negatives at some level and I am even more outraged by the fact that a moderator has edited 'Dibz' rating which was 9/10 without giving me a reason and if your wondering, yes he has played it so he has full rights to rate it and that does not give anyone the right to change it just because of their certain opinion of a certain person.

Finally I feel sad because Rabid has given his opinion of it and as everyone knows, his a very popular mapper and whatever he says, others will agree because they 'trust him'.

He does'nt realise how much he wastes his luckyness!

The fire is a gas trap set off and the broken cars piled up are from the scrap yard idea:

http://www.punchstock.com/image/image100/4200166/large/00166060.jpg

(Just in case you have never seen a scrap yard)

Maybe it also looks Half-life 1ish because of the screenshot quality and you have to play it to fully see the level which is what the screenshots do not show!

Well being a mate im bound to be more biased for your map. but i know that you infamously dont usually finish your maps. however this map is very good looking from the pics. i would have liked to seen more of the outside area since you got 2 pics of the same area. an idea to make it more balanced for ct's wud be some sort of hidden tunnel or sumthing

**edit** Whoever edited my post, why i dont know. I have played it since I live down his road and also to say to other guys who are gettin their opinion from screenie (not much choice atm) i have played it and it doesnt remind me of hl1 at all. I admit that assault could do with a little architecture change but from what ive played i would say that it is different to the original!

Im surprised at you... I think it looks pretty good and of course its gonna look a bit like hl1 graphics.. Its a cs map... I odnt think the architecture is that bad except in a few ares that dont really matter.. The biggest bad bit would be the windowed room in the main warehouse, its the only bit that looks like only 2 mins were spent on it....

Download now folks, great map...

Thats a point, nobody commented on the gameplay of this map... its an important aspect

8/10

The text "do not rate this map unless you have actually played it" was why I edited out the mark in that comment, as the author stated that they were judging it based on the screenshots.

Screenshots aren't very impressive, and are hardly an improvement over HL1- why is there fire coming out of the middle of nowhere? Use the Source engine to actually make this into something, rather than just a big empty room.

I'm confused... The lighting seems pretty good, but yet the architecture is poor. Kinda the other way round from usual.

Well my first aim was to make the original cs_assault which is what I have done so far and now i'm adding extras, making traps etc

I asked for your opinion on it and I have no good screenshots of it!

In the first screenshot, the room looks quite empty, try adding some stuff in there, and use the conventional hostage models.

In the second screenshot, the tile texture is quite noticably misaligned. Fix that. And try to clutter up the middle part a bit, it's too open for my liking. And add a source of that fire, even if it's just a few scattered tiles and a piece of wood.

In the third screenshot, there doesn't appear to be a source of light for the one on the far right on the platform that you're on. Maybe there is one there, I don't know, it just doesn't seem to have a source.

If this is a cs_assault remake, then there should be some outdoor areas too, give a screenshot of outside for critiqueing (spelling?) as well.

If you give me a download I will playtest it just because I like CS:S.

Looks better than a lot of the assault remakes I've seen though.

Sorry for not replying in a while but I have been ill and unable to reply

About your comments:

The first screenshot is the storage room as you know but the picture does'nt show how small it really is and only 3 players could fit in it! So that is ok...

Whats wrong with my hostage models?

There defitnately is a source for that light but it was not included in the screenshot :S

The texture is now aligned  and again its big because it is a warehouse and has just enough room for 15 players.

There is a source for that fire which again the picture does not show! It's a gas trap that at the beginning starts off and can be shot at to trigger if a player is on it.

Yes I bet your thinking that team players will set it off on their own team for a laugh well, thats the servers choice to kick them if they want!

Note that these pictures were all taken in fast mode because they are all tests.

I am actually disapointed with my result and feel like I have wasted my energy on a map not worthy of being released but I hate to waste things and thus I am continuing with it and will finish it for those who like it a bit. Besides I make these maps for my friends and it's their joy that makes mapping worth while to me!

It looks good, but again the screenshots don't lend much to evaluating layout and gameplay. Thus I think that a download for the .bsp would be good. If you made one available, I would do a review once I got my computer to boot. Hopefully before my LAN party on Wednesday. Still, looks very nice, and a lot of things added to the usually bland assault remakes.

Not really, I haven't played enough maps to have decided what is good/not good. I also don't generally like a map for its aesthetics. As long the gameplay is good, it's a good map. Anyways, maybe I'll be able to try this with my brothers computer.

Anyway I am going to finish it off by adding a sewer and basically brushing everything off...

Hopefully by tomorrow I will have my computer up and running. A trojan deleted everything to do with my network, and explorer.exe screwed up so I can't get a start menu, or any windows. A quick reinstall of XP should hopefully do the trick as I got rid of the trojan.

Thus, tomorrow or monday I'll have a review up...as long as nothing goes seriously wrong.

A REVIEW!

Man my maps not worhty of a review as it's very messy, the bsp I have sent you!

Some things you will notice, I already know about them such as using a model texture on the warehouse etc or blue light on wall but white rays!

Alright, I finally got around to doing it. It's my first one so don't get angry at me for anything. Here goes;

User posted image

In this first one, there are some wierd lines on this wall, it's right outside of the hostage room.

User posted image

You'll notice a line between a shiny texture and the not-shiny texture. Also, on that stretch of platform there is rain coming through the roof.

User posted image

I think this one speaks for itself  Just re-align that texture. I'm pretty sure it's the same on the other side too.

User posted image

This texture is scaled up too much, make those two line up, otherwise it looks a bit wierd.

User posted image

That looks a bit odd, just sort of that huge bit of road stretching across the windows. It's not a big deal, just something I noticed.

User posted image

Once again it's shiny and then suddenly not. This is outside the pound by the green car.

User posted image

This is the green car. You'll notice that I'm inside it. Something needs to be done about that.

User posted image

This large drum-thing (just lost the word) is floating a bit. You won't see it if you don't go looking for it, but just lower it for good measure.

User posted image

In this shot, I can see to the end of the map. I can see the bottom of those skyscrapers too. I think you should enclose the pound in a wall, just to block this off.

User posted image

Just a wee bit o' texture misalignment there again.

User posted image

Not sure if you can do anything about this, but you'll notice the bulb is white, but the spots on the walls are blue.

User posted image

Same thing with the texture alignment.

User posted image

This road just looks a bit wierd ending out of nowhere. I guess it's not a big deal since basically all the assault remakes do it, but it just looks a bit odd.

User posted image

For my final shot, from up top the tower, this happens. Just put something there that would qualify as a roof.

Overall one of the better assault remakes I've seen. I especially like the revamped tower by the CT spawn. The biggest things was texture misalignments. I also like that exploding gas, really caught me off guard while I was just shooting random stuff. Hope this helps.

That helped greatly and thanks!

I will sort out those silly misalignments and the rain shall poof away

I have nearly finished it and will hopefully get another working version with sewers later on...

Thanks again French Toast!

No problem. Sewers would be cool too. Every good CS map has
1. Breakable Glass
2. Sewers/vents

I'll have to get this one for my next LAN party, we're looking for some good maps to play. Great job btw.
