so im getting ready to release a map. its a remake of a map from a different game (jedi knight dark forces 2). it was a pretty fun so i remade it for HL2DM. keep in mind the game was made in 97 and i did my best to make it exactly the same structure and general look.

for the most part i want to keep it the way it is but i have been iffy about whether or not to add props like pipes and such. i also used texture light but that comes with some consequences (surfaces where lights are located are way darker since the light apparenly doesnt bounce all of the way back).

feedback is appreciated. i know it doesnt look great but im looking for a compromise of looking the same as the original and having it look good by todays standards.

Nothing wrong with doing a sort of re-imagination (same layout different visuals) rather than a complete port.

df2 was an awesome game for its time. Except for the real-life cutscenes omg they were HORRIBLE.

Anyway it's odd you posted this as just a day or two ago I was reading a thread where somebody extracted all the textures from this game and converted them to vtf, even adding bumpmaps and such. His screens looked great, and I have to say most hl2 stuff looks out of place in your nice effort there. ( I don't remember the level you're doing though :confused: )

Not saying you should do anything morally compromising or anything, hint hint

Oh wow that's pretty sweet i would never have thought anyone would do that. i dont know if i will use those vtfs though simply because it will bump up the file size tremendously.

i might just do a retexturing and add props...just not sure what kind of props i would add.

oh, and the map is called nar shaddaa loading terminal
