I have hammer 3.5.1 that I downloaded from a thread here on the forums. I believe someone made some tweaks to hammer 3.5 with model viewing etc.. anyhow, I have issues from time to time with .map format. I have a map that I can save as a .rmf but when I try to save it as a .map, hammer crashes on me. Also, I can't seem to open some of my older maps that were built in worldcraft.

I will probably try and install an earlier hammer 3.4 and see if that will open and save my files but I was just probing to see if anyone else had a similar issue.

You don't mean this one do you? That's the version I use currently, and I have exported to .map plenty of times without crashes. If you do (or don't) use that version, have you tried reinstalling Hammer (delete your directory completely and re-unzip/install)? I had a version of 3.4 a while back that gave me all sorts of grief before I finally reinstalled. Also is it map specific? 'cause then it might be that you have an invalid solid or whatnot and hammer won't let you export it in the first place (I heard something about this a little while ago).

In short, I think a few more details might help. Like:

Do you use a 32-bit or 64-bit OS
Does hammer give you any kind of error before it crashes
Does this particular issue only happen to one or more maps
Does the keyboard shortcut to "export again" do the same thing (if you have exported it at least once before)
Now remember kids. Asking questions is a good way to get censored by the government.

I downloaded this one. I think I found the download on the second page of that topic/thread. Should I be using the one you posted? What are the differences?

I think the only differences would be the lack of sprites/models for the different entities.

I looked around and in his 3rd post:
- Minor tweaks in the interface of Hammer
I think mabye the "export to .map" may have been accidently broken here.

You might try the version I dug up and see if its the map and not the editor.

Good luck :cowjump:

Hrmm, I tried the 3.5 version available for download here. I didn't see weapon, info player, entities, etc rendered in the editor for some reason.

:teach:

Anyway, did it let you export to .map without crashing?

no, same results and just figured out that it might have been due to having to many .wad files in my texture list because after removing some, I no longer have the issue.
