I will be getting an Oculus Rift sometime in the next month(I hope). I ordered it in early April so I should get it in either August or late July.
If you do not know what an Oculus Rift is, it is a virtual reality headset that has the ability to display 2 perspectives in a game, this gives the user a sense of depth. For example if you stick your hand out and have one eye open and switch you will see your hand differently with each eye. Unlike a monitor which is only one perspective.
Anyway I should be making some test programs/games for the Rift and if anyone else has a Rift I will post DL links on here! I am also making a scary HL2:Epi2 map that utilizes the perspective mechanics such as things jumping on your face and such.
I really do believe this technology to be the future of gaming and not just a cool toy for VR enthusiasts.
So keep an eye out on this thread for more updates.

The main thing I'd want to do with an headset like this (maybe its future incarnations that are full HD and higher speed, though) is make a driving cockpit with hydraulics and junk. It'd be pretty immersive.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Oh my, I don't think anyone has done that yet! They are coming out with an HD version of the Oculus Rift for the consumer version. They showed a prototype at E3 this year.

Yeah, I saw.
There's Project Cars which will support Oculus Rift, apparently. I don't know if it supports d-box or any hydraulic systems that are out there, though. Be really cool if it did.

Do not purchase it Riven unless you are going to develop a game for it. You can see every pixel in the rift; but do not get me wrong, experienced gamers see right past it and get completely immersed. The consumer version will be 200x better with 1080p(I think) and possibly better motion tracking. The company recently received a few million in funding from the people who funded Twitter, so be ready for the best VR you have ever seen with the consumer version.

I've ordered a devkit (should arrive this month), and have been borrowing a one from a friend to play through some demos and Halflife 2. The devkit resolution is low but that's understandable for a devkit.
In a nutshell... it's absolutely amazing.... if you can see past the devkit quality and grasp the potential. HD commercial release will be a game changer. I've had a lot of fun playing through Halflife 2. Headcrabs are scary.
