Is it me, or does this site not work particularly well in Netshite? Obviously because their coding/compatibility with IE is terrible- biggest problems seem to be a lack of buttons for a javascript alert, lack of showing empty table cells which still have dimensions, table heights and the footer b0rking, and '?forum=whatever' links deciding it means 'snarkpit.com/?forum=whatever'... bah...

Er, anyway, if anyone has any severe browser problems with this site fire away and I'll try and have a look see into it.

I'm currently using Firebird 0.6.1 and seem to be able to do most things now. Over the past few days it's gotten better. I'm still having occational problems with posting a new topic, the current one being that the last time I posted a new topic in the editing forum, the "click here if you can't see the form" took me to an error page related to the mandatory search (I like that, btw).
[edit]
I figured I should actually post something useful..
I'm just tried to repeat the error, and it's still there.

Posting a new topic in the editing forum gives the "you cannot post without searching" javascript popup.
Clicking ok goes to the search page no problem.
Enting a search terms goes to the results page no problem. Clicking the "post your problem" takes me the the java version of the "post a new topic" page.
Since I can't type in the java window (not sure why though considering I have java and javascript installed and active) I click the "click here if you can't see the below form" which brings up the javascript popup "are you sure?"

Clicking OK gives:
User posted image

Hope this helps a bit better than the vague description in the previous post. Note that I don't get this error when I post in the other forums. It's only related to the editing forum.

At any rate, I understand that the site is a work in progress, and these things happen. Keep up the good work!

Do you want bug reports from any other browsers ? as a linux user I could test the site out in mozilla, konqurer, nautulous, galeon ?

You will find, as I have with my site, that javascript sites will only work well with IE6. Why anbody would choose some other crap browser which can't process simple java commands I just don't know :razz:

I haven't seen any glitches with mozilla yet, but I'll be sure to let ya know if I do.

Oh, and Myrk-- Jabba itself is a shaky language, and, and, and IE sucks, face it :razz:

Java works on most browsers just fine, actually- as long as you keep it simple, it'll be okay :smile: And yes please, reports from any browsers would be appreciated.

while were talking about site bugs... has anyone had problems with their pits? i cant upload any file, i cant creat any directories... any ideas?

ive noticed that some forum posts spread past the right hand side of the screen, not sure why...im running 1024x786, and most sites are done under 800x600, or atleast should be :razz: (this forum post is one of them!!!)

also ive noticed that the BBCode javawindow is not accessible via forum posts, i think that would be a good idea as most dont know BBcode and that window helps a bunch :wink:

P.S. im running IE5 and i have absolutely no probs with javascrpit, and it all looks good over here.

well, i think that with the ammount of RETARDED people who dont or cant follow directions, lep should probabley code my auto-resize idea into the site. that is rather annoying when your trying to read posts, or find the reply button...lol

AhhhHhh... that pit problem has been fixed, it's to do with PHP and the crazy 'umask' function interfering with chmodding. Like you do. And image sizes, I shall have a look and see what I can do- best can hope for is merely to shrink the image itself rather than 'properly' resize it, a la uploads to this website.

Ok, well I just invented a PHP function which can check all images to see if they're too big and shrink them a bit, but it slows pages down big time- I'll put it in the code for when you post/edit messages. If anyone is interested or can suggest a faster method:

<!--code-->Code:
<TABLE width="95%" align=center>
<TBODY>
<TR>
<TD> if(preg_match_all("#User posted image#i",$text,$matches,PREG_SET_ORDER)) {
for($i=0;$i<10;$i++) { if($matches[$i]) {
  $imageurl = preg_replace("#User posted image#i","<A href='file://\\\\1",$matches[$i][0'>\\\\1",$matches[$i][0</A>]);
  $imgsize = getimagesize($imageurl);
  if($imgsize[0]>800) $text = preg_replace("#User posted image#i","
Image has been automatically down-sized, click on it to view the full size version:
User posted image",$text);
  }
 }
} }
</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!--/code-->

umm, looking good... but if your going to allow the image to be viewed in fulsize version by clicking on it, why not make the "thumbnail" a tad bit smaller, for loading purposes.

and who cares whos code it is, it works...kinda LOL

like the test image? i found it on google just for this test...LMAO

i also might suggest changing the message telling people about the auto-resize thingy, looks more like an error then a message, maybe a caption under the pic.

Thumbnail views it generates should be around 640x480 I reckon.

I use Mozilla, I can see the normal posting thing, but can't type within it. I also lost my old identity and had to re-register, but that doesn't bother me much. The main problem is the lack of compatability of the normal posting window with Mozilla. It looks fine, but I can't interact with it.

I'm not having the website bloody download and thumbnail all the big pictures everyone uses, it takes time (2 seconds to resize a large picture!), bandwidth and space. Make the pictures smaller yourself- maybe the annoying scaling-down will egg you on to do so :razz:

as enigmatic as always :heee:

sometime, we need to create our own book of translations and syntax reference charts..

messages like this one i quotes, make me feel stupid cause i cannot decipher it... and to others its prolly so obvious, they would concur, i am truly stupid :/

BTW, me bows to the addition of the "to top" buttons re-emergence :smile:

i got that much, but what threw me off i guess, is the fact that the reply is immediately following my request for the top button's return..

i guess its unimportant.. since i got my wish, and this thread is about browsers not wishes..

anyways, if you noticed my hair moving, it was just above my grasp :cool:
