Okay a long time ago I posted a tread asking how to make the pop-ups go away, WC and orph helped by telling me about ad-aware. it helped me some, but it only delayed the inevitable, its gotton so bad that I can't go on my computer without some crap like "win real money in an online casino" comming up. Thats why im posting form another computer that hasnt been infected yet.
So my question is how do I whipe the hard drive clean of all programs and such, but keep windows components? So basicaly I want to start over from the begining, I have already prepared my files I want to keep on CDs and now im ready for the next step, WHAT DO I DO?

alot of programs will leave information in your windows registry even if you delete them. Anything you don't plan on reinstalling is best removed by running the uninstall program that came with the program.

Uninstalling spyware is basically impossible without a lot of programs I listed. They claim to be gone, but their still there. Others trick you into thinking your not the system administrator and wont let you remove, and some say "Shutdown; will remove when windows restarts", but they are back when you start up windows.
This weekend, I fixed all the spyware and such on my moms pc (I dont use it much; but I guess Id help), and I did everything I listed above. It worked perfectly. Spyware had set my IE page to some search engine no matter what I uninstalled, or changed it back. And I got 6 popups when I started IE, and I was on the page "about:blank". After my work above ^ I got no pop ups, and no more IE homepage changes.

Vash, you should take down that link to a cracked .exe seeing as it's illegal and all.

The internet is colapsing onto itself. Its weak.
For example, years back some idiot or compagny decided to promote themselves/annoy you with pop ups. Then came the time where someone wrote a program to kill pop ups. Now its gone to the point were pop up killers announce themselves on pop ups
