The top one has the creepy fetus/spine action happening.

The hands are great, the left in particular - but I don't seem to be able to get my right hand into that position? It's almost like the first finger is bent, and the thumb is kind of fat compared to the rest... maybe I just have freak hands

I couldn't get my hand into a similar position either Jeff, but maybe we're both freaks. I'd better stop holding my hand, I probably look a bit stupid.

The fist is simply a fist with a wierd camera angle. I took a picture to reference since it is a wierd pose. So no matter how you twist your hand, I took thepicture from a different angle than your head can get so you will mos tlike not see the same pose.
but the other piece, I'm going to take a toned down black wash and push the lavender back a couple notches.

I can get my hands into that pose, but its pretty damned uncomfortable. I'm not too keen on the first shot - just the style isn't to my taste, its not badly drawn or anything - but the second shot is really nice, you handle black and white marvelously

2nd piece:
The thumbnail on the top hand just looks wrong IMO, perhaps an afterthought/after work ?
the light source looks a little off as well, but not noticeable tbh.
1st piece: i like it - bright colours and slight surrealism is my kitch atm, so it does appeal to me - again, the proportions of the fingers are a little off, but i guess in the style its in it doesnt matter
overall nice work though, as ever
