well, i havent played it yet, but still...

yah the engine is far outdated, but 10 of thousands of people still play CS, TFC, and HLDM on a daily basis.

yah ok so its no GT3, but hey GT3 had its engine built with driving in mind.

you have to admit that with what these guys have done, its pretty amazing, im mean come on, they took an outdated first person shooter engine, and modded it for a racing game, that alone is rather amazing.

i give props for what they have done, not dog on what they havent done.

My thoughts exactly - its an incredible achievement and they SHOULD be extremely proud of what they have done. But if I bought this in a shop, I would be disappointed. As a driving game, its not very good, but I don't think anybody could do better with a 6 year old engine designed for first person shooters.

what the hell is everyone so much wining about. firs of all its a beta. dont we play hl mods for fun. not realism. look at dod cs ore tfc there so far away from realism that a wwII veteran would laugh his ass off. did one ofyou ever used a shooting simulator wich is used by the military?? i did. its a total different feeling then cs tfc ore any other mod.

now i made my statement. the game is lots of fun and easy to drive. if i put the timer out you can win virtaly every round by breaking and acelerating on time.

and i found it strange that no one mentioned dtm race driver. its f**king realistic as a followup of the good ol toca touringcars championship /me looks back at good ol times*snif* .

so thats my opinion

ok, pepper. i know you prolly get tired of my posts in rally forums so lemme try to explain in here:

HLRally is an achievement that is impressive in principle, and in the fact that it has been devved to this point. Everyone who maps, models, and tweaks with it knows this from experience tinkering with the settings and files. And yes, it is STILL a BETA, as it should be as-is.

Now that ive said that, id like to continue off by saying that the implied scope of the mod as ive seen in forums, as well as in the mod itself are too narrowly scoped. For instance, it has been implied many times in the past that the mod will only be focusing on rallying for the most part. Its your mod. go for it. But it has so much potential for covering other genres. Im not saying put guns and stuff on the cars (that would be silly) but im thinking more in the lines of covering things like Formula, Street, and 4 Wheelers.

These ideas can potentially be done by hobby mappers/modellers except for issues like friction being unrealistically low, crossed with parts that are mostly ineffective in performance tweaking. Frankly, why have Street tires that arent worth installing in the first place? My thoughts would be to give the street tires the performance tires specs, the Performance tires the rally specs, and the Rally tires somewhat higher specs(but a acceleration penalty due to its non-speed treads). As for the other parts, sopmethng similar to that fashion. As you mentioned in you previous post, its about fun, right? so why not add a limited nitro cvar and attract more ppl that way? after all, nitro isnt something you cant use all the way through the maps.(and yes, you dont see nitro in rally cars. not the point)

Getting back on subject, i have a few suggestions for future updates:

-Spectator modes Auto and Static where you can choose either to follow a specific player, or , stick to one particular camera so to view action in interesting locations (good for learning new techniques on dificult areas)

-Inertia Meter for knowing how much force is being applied to the driver in turns. This can be a good prostetic to feeling G's in real life and it doesnt have to be huge, just observable out the corner of your eye.

-Transmissions as a parts choice cause some pple can drive FF's better than they can FR's and it can add to the fun of customizing. Speaking of which...

-Make-specific parts so that Makes , in general can be balanced amongst each other

-NULL_CAR model to get rid of floating spectators (funny as that is ,lol)

-and PLEASE, allow us to have bobbleheads on our dashes

anyways, im all over the place with this atm, so feedback anyone?
(oh yeah, im a Ridge Racer 4 and Mario Kart person  )

A whole generation of kids (and..well ReNo) has been poluted by unrealistic driving sims such as PGR, it's a disaster waiting to happen when these people finally get their drivers license.

Let's hope that a large and growing fanbase for HL Rally can correct this error made by industry giants.
Hey! I grew up playing Super Mario Kart & Rock & Roll Racing and i've not had an accident yet....
I still can't find the button to launch the turtle shells in my dad's truck.
