hey guys,
i have come to you because i here you are the best lol
anyways, i made a map for hl2, called prison, and everything was going smoothly, until, one day (monday) i open my map up in the source sdk, and most of the hl2 textures appear grey and black, and all of the models where replaced with purple and black squares (i see this in the textured 3d view) and they are invisible on the 2d views.
any one know how i can fix this?
thanks in advance, copper

Not sure, but I think that's the default texture in case the actual one is missing...

Do models and textures in other maps you open look like this? And how do they look in HL2 if you compile? Do the models have the correct "outline", or have they just all turned into blocks?
It sounds to me though like Hammer isn't loading up the right GCF files any more. Load it up through the SDK, and check that the GameInfo.txt file you're using (found in a directory underneath where your map is saved) is referencing the right GCFs...

Is Hammer set up properly?
Are you sure you've not opened it up in counter strike editing mode by accident?
If you open a HL2 map in counter strike editing mode, you will get that effect, it is because it does not recognise the textures, or cannot find them. Also make sure you are booting hammer from the SDK link, not from the Hammer EXE. Lots of weird things happen if you boot hammer from its EXE rather than through steam.
