in the options for certain brush-based entities it has the options for opaque and embedded fix. i know what opaque does but i havent been able to figure out the embedded fix option.

I believe the "embedded fix" corrects some odd lighting errors that can crop up when using opaque entities. I remember seeing a tutorial that explained the difference a while back, but I don't remember where. You might try a google search. If I remember right "embedded" refers to a problem that occurs when you have an opaque entity that intersects a world brush.
