Well this is my first experience with the half-life engine. And pretty
much 3d editing in general. So some pointers would be handy. Also I
would like to make the outdoors of the house so you can go in and out,
but I will need to read some more tutorials first. Anyways, what do you
think?

i think the best advice anyone can give is.

download everything you can find, run around in each map taking note of what works, what doesn't, and so forth.

I agree. Also read all the newbie tuts for HL1 and HL2. Then then read a few of the other ones (like the architecture ones). Try to read all of them but skim a few if you have to.

I would suggest not starting with your house though. I would suggest starting with something simpler.
Happy mapping!!

Did you just move into your new house? Because from the screenshot, it looks pretty much empty. Virtually no furniture, no windows, and no decorations.

Why don't you start off by making your own house? (DONT release it though as it won't be worth playing, though a good learning exercise  )

This is my first map, so I am still working on it.

I will add my yard, and driveway, and windows when due. Just wanted some suggestions.

lol, it would suck to live in this house because you can't leave!
