Hey guys. Some of you may know that I launched www.mapfinger2.com last week. Unfortunately, I didn't know about TSP yet. It was down when I was looking for a place to post my maps a few weeks ago. And I didn't like the format of "the map vault." So I decided to revive Mapfinger (like we used to have years ago when I mapped last) and slapped it together pretty quick.

Course, now TSP is back online. So it begs the question, should I pull Mapfinger down? I really don't care to compete with another site, especially if it does a better job. Thoughts?

I don't think anybody would have a problem with you launching it, even
if it is very similar to the snarkpit in purpose. Competition is a good
thing if you ask me! Good luck with the site, its looking cool  How
come you are using mapfinger2.com instead of just good old mapfinger
though?

Did you make the original Mapfinger site, or are you "inspired by"?

Much as I love to crush competitors working together can be more fruitful, especially if you can build some ?ber-map-website and sell it to UGO for bit of cash

Actually I was chatting with Deraj, mapfinger's original creator. He was working on mapfinger2 years ago, and moved on before finishing. So I offered to finish it up for him. Course, none of the original code was much use to me, but oh well.

Frankly, I'd rather put my time into my own maps instead of admining and developing sites. Besides, you've done a great job with TSP Lep (downtime aside) . And you've got an established clientele. Really not sure if its worth developing mapfinger further.

Glad you like  I think if you really want to develop Mapfinger further you're going to have to abandon the PHP-Nuke-esque front-end, and have it offer more than just map profiles!
