Hi I have a map thats underground and at one part theres a large open place that I want to have contain some dropships or something. Since it was underground I figured why not have some large portal open up so it makes a little more sense than dropships spontaneously forming inside the building loaded with troops.
I noticed at the end of the game, the combine portal used that special water effect and had a camera or something showing what was happening on the other side of the portal. How can I make my own? If it isn't possible, how can I use the one already used in Singleplayer?

I think that was one big model, texture, sprite or something along those lines, but for sure it wasn't a camera, maybe decompile the map and check it out for yourself!

ok heres what you do, make a prop_dynamic and name it portal or something.
make a point_camera and an info_camera_link.
name tha camera: portal_cam and set the info_camera_link's camera name
to portal_cam and its entity who uses blah blah blah (you will
understand when you look at the entity options) to portal.
thats pretty much it.
im gonna make a tutorial later.

cool thanks. the portal actually looks a lot less cooler than it did in singleplayer for some reason =(

maybe its because in singleplayer they got the portal skydome (another
model from the effects folder) and if you got fog in your map it looks
a bit crappy too
