Having successfully combined the two tutorials: buttons, and dynamic light, (+ tire swing), and with a little help from the thumper tut, for info on logic branches, thank you cbk and leperous. I am very happy with the nice lamp I have dangling from my ceiling, and even more happy with the fact that I finally got both the dynamic light, and the spotlight to turn on and off simultaneously. However, alas, all is not well in the land of the warehouse. When the light goes off, both the lamp itself (lamp_bell_on), and the other furniture in the room seem to have a strange glow to them. Though the random furniture stops glowing when it moves (when I shoot it with the grav-gun). The lamp still seems to glow, is there any way to stop this? I have a feeling it's likely coming from the lamp skin itself, unfortunately it doesn't have an alternative (lamp_bell_off) skin.

I have been testing the lighting from the lamp, using the mat_fullbright 0, in the console, so the light isn't coming from that.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Skins are numbered. The default skin is 0, the next skins are 1,
2, and so on. Try changing the prop's skin to 1 or 2 via I/O.

Setting the skin of the prop in the editor works, you should be able to
see the difference between the skins of your lamp. Try it for
other common props, too, especially trees and oil drums.

I had a problem like this, There was a room with a few glass windows
set to brake. If I turned on my flash light at them they would
appear dark, but if I shot them then turned my flash light on they
would light up.

I never fixed it, but why dont you take some screen shots and show us what it looks like.

You are building cubemaps, right? If you don't, all materials
will use a default cubemap, which is just the sky. That would
cause the glow. Try entering "mat_specular 1" into the console
before launching your map; this will disable the effects of cubemaps.

If you are building cubemaps, be sure to do it while the light is turned off.
