Think of how Google today would have seemed to anyone suggesting it in 1990?

An entire company which does ALL of its business via the internet, offers advertising programs, 'web searches', and lets you download images taken from private space satellites.

Not only that, but it became a dominant business model.

What a crazy future that would be

I also found this interesting, but doesnt warrant its own thread:

Sony Revolution, acrylic tiles which store information or something like that. Quite impressive.

Ok, so I watched the video. First, I find the whole personalization/"tailoring to you" thing incredibly annoying and potentially scary, so I try to avoid it. Second, wtf is the big deal with blogs? I wish bloggers would just go to the corner and die. Seriously. Does anyone actually read blogs? They just fill the net with crap that you have to wade through to find anything.

News Corpration Limited (Rupert Murdoch's media empire) have announced they intend on using more Bloggers for their news content, because most media outlets have come to realise most things spread through weblogs long before news outlets find them.

The Wal Street Journal and New York Times Print Edition has already started doing this. If you look at the Wall Street Journal's opinion website (OpinionJournal.com, if I remember correctly) posts a weekly roundup of all the 'Good' things that happen in Iraq, seeing as these things are often ignored by the media. This roundup is posted by a Blogger who was hired by the WSJ to do this, and now this roundup is printed in many newspapers worldwide.

The times, they are 'a changin'.

I dont think they use just your ordinary 15 year old girl 'OMG Brad Pitt is hawt!!11" blogger, but bloggers who post at BlogSites such as http://www.moorewatch.com/ and things like that.

Heh thanks, i've been hanging around again for a while (on and off since HL2 came out), but never found a reason to post again.
Probably disappear again once Battlefield 2 is out, though

I think Google is on its way too taking over the world.

Yeah I just saw that story on the news just a minute ago, Google is now worth more that AOL/Time-Warner, and is now the most valuable media company in the world.

Incredible.
