This is my entry for the 2005 competition, theres not alot to say about
it yet as im testing how things will come out in hl2, shown in the
screenshot and ive made the thread so people dont comment on the maps page yet.

If i complete this it will be my first map released and as there is a
real reason for me making, the competition, i should be pushed to
finish it.

Interesting concept. I was wondering whether someone was intending to go for the distortion theme or not.

I remembered seeing a map with these things in before but couldnt
remember where. These pictures are just test of how hl2 handles these
things through displacement but so far its not very good the light on
the displacements appears larger than the light on the normal world
brushes.

Any way the finished map will be based around the house in the film
beatle juice, not sure if any ones seen it and it will have the wall in
the attic that goes to the place where all the dead people are.

I'm talking about the maps that will enter the contest.

I was refering to his screenshots, which look like something out of Wrongworld1

Nonetheless, interesting map idea :] I suppose this map takes on the more sick and demeneted part of the contest... hmmm...

You better have sandworms... can't name it beetlejuice and not have a random door that leads to sandworms!

and a teleporter that leads to a model of the town!
Too bad you can't resize things on the fly.

(and the door wasn't random, it was any physical door leading out of the house. Not entirely sure how you'd pull it off, teleporters I'd imagine)
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

ow yeah, forgot about the sandworm, thatnks for idea. As for the model
town i cant remember exactly what they did, wasnt it they said beatle
juice 3 times over the model table and got teleported into the town?
Wouldnt it be cool if their was an oppersite of the 3d sky so i could
have the model table in the attic and see the people on it moveing
around.

[edit] Can any one remember what the worm looked like coz this is all i got on a search, looks like someone made it in paint! :
