I want to add a vehicle to the middle of my map ( non driveable ) and i
cant seem to do so. My friend added vehicles to his map and said that
they were entities but i can find any entities that are vehicles. So i
downloaded some vehicle models from the downloads section of this site
and i dont have any idea where to put the files so that i can put the
vehicles on my map.. can someone help me?

use the winzip wizard to unzip the archive to the root folder of whatever mod your using.

If you want the use the default vehicles of HL2 then you need a
prop_static or something like that. And the search for the wanted model
in properties of that prop_ :biggrin:

Hey fishy, since im making a Counter-Strike: Source map, which folder
should i extract the file to? Could you give me the exact directory :smile:
and once its in the root directory would i have to do the prop_static to put it on?

Maps goes in to the maps folder, props from HL2 not they are standard
on every HL2 system, but if you have custom model/texture/material you
need to add them and place them n the right folder!!!

Yeah Damic but where do i put the files? cause i downloaded the truck
model and stuff and its multiple files and none of them are map files
and fishy said to put it in the root folder of my mod and i dont know
where exactly to put them cause they are of an unknown format to me.

i didn't say put the files in the root folder, i said extract the archive to the root folder using winzips wizard. this will put all the files in their relevant folders, because the file was packed with its own directory structure.
or, if you open the zip file and look at each files 'path', you can see what folder it is meant to go in. again, this is relative to your mods root folder. as far as i remember, all of the files for vehicles that were re-builds of hl2's wrecks should go in [root]/models/fishy/ripped/
didn't i put a readme in with the models that already explained this?
