I've basically been wanting to do this for months,
but never got around to it. I wanted to create a good background
featuring the HL2 logo, but not obscuer the scene, and be something
better than a flat image. I couldn't think of anything untill I
saw Cinematech, on G4, and one video of the newest elderscrolls.
One scene of a fantstic fountain, at the purfect angle, and the
narative adventurative voice, eventually inspired me to make a c**ked
HL2 wall. (It was actually many other thing before its final
product.)

As with before, better quality for better
judgement. Because with the posting changes, The links to both
size walls are underneath the pic. Feel free to share.
Enjoy!

IMO, the transition is just too sudden. Maybe have the edges
where the symbol and ground meet be a little rough, or make the grey
plane sort of bumpier like water or somthing.

Otherwise, I love it. Very cool, just that one little thing.

I'd use a HL2 effect to do the grey, to give it the impression of being HL2!

What i was thinking on saying, maybe needs a couple of ripple's or something that doesnt make it "clean cut".

I saw a vat of 500 degree Aluminum a few weeks ago. See if you can find some pctures of that and make the symbole dipping into that. Its got a super shiny but not reflective quality.

and put some liquid metal spatters on the logo, and give the logo a more wethered look.

seems like if you used that instead of the grey water. it would be
too...... red. looks ok though. will be intresting how you interprut
that into your main piece.

I know its been a while, but I've finnally updated the image. I
actually did it weeks ago, but the same day I got UT2k4 the very same
day. Combined with work and dial up, its been a hassle.
