I'm making models in MAX and I really don't have a clue on how to get
them from being MAX models to HL2 models. :/ I know that
there's an exporter you can find that will export your models into the
XSI format, but that's about it. I don't know how to compile 'em,
or how one should go about texturing them (i.e., how do the textures
get from the model to the game), etc.

If anyone can help me out, it'd be much appreciated.
My maps are stupid. :D

Well if you export to the XSI format, then you could load them into XSI
and follow the tutorials about compiling documented here...

Not sure if there is a more direct route from max; I know that
milkshape can export to .smd files and those can be compiled directly
by the SDK compile tools, but I haven't looked into that for max.

Try
this.
A quick google brought it up, it says that it's painless. Give it
a shot

Thanks, I think that's going to help a lot... the tutorial is rather badly written, and it doesn't really give me any advanced information for compiling more detailed models, but it's start.

It's funny, I googled for this stuff before and couldn't find one darned thing. :/ Must not've searched for the magic words.
