ok...so i was compiling my de_altitude map after i had added in some stuff to the lab room>>>me gets to point

after it had compiled and was loading into cs, a box poped up say "bad animating texture +olab1_gun1 we hate you"[without the we hate you part] anyways I located this texture and replaced it and i think this has solved my problem.

what I want to know is why this texture has screwed up when loading the map, can anyone help?

I can tell either you or someone else made this texture in Wally. To make an animated texture, Wally tells you to add the "+" in front of the texture name. You need to add "+0" for the first texture, "+1" for the second, "+2" for the third and so on. The game will cycle through these textures, hence, animating them.

It seems you used the letter o instead of the number 0. That might be the problem as I don't see why a one frame anmiation (not technically an animation) should cause an error.

Not a standard HL texture I recognize... Did you load an unsupported .WAD file by any chance?

The only ones you should be loading are halflife.wad, liquids.wad, decals.wad, and xeno.wad.

Just out of curiosity does it work if you rename it?

If renamed, the texture would work. The engine would display said texture (+0lab1_gun1) then it would search the .WAD for a +1lab1_gun1 texture. If it finds one, it will display it. If it dosent, then it will display +0lab1_gun1 again.

I dont think the cycling rate can be changed, but it sycles fairly fast. If you remember that computer monitor in the first level of Half-Life where you are asked to "Activate the Rotors"

I think you can only have 3 or 4 frames tracer.

I thought it was 10, and that you can't change the speed they vary.

Yes, I think it's something like +0~9

No clue about the speed though.

Don't know about the speed, but you can actually have +a, +b etc. all the way to +z, resulting in a maximum of 26 frames. Also this means you can switch between two animating textures.
