I somehow don`t like to work on my map de_Zeus at the moment , so i started "speedmapping" some funny HLDM maps! And i enjoy it! So much that now , only a few days after releasing the dm_Osiris , i want to show new WIP pics from my new project dm_Quicksand! The map is finally to be released tomorrow!

Buildtime: ca. 4~5 h.

The pics don`t show a final compile, quality settings have been very low (but fast!) ,but i just wanna give you first impressions:

C&C!

The textures make it seem very much like a cartoon -- they're too clean. Maybe it's all of those big bold lines. Besides this littler personal niggle, it looks nice. You're a busy little bee.

This would look well with some lighting other than a light_env.

I like it. As for the textures... I like them as well. So what if they are slightly 'cartoony'. "Realistic" is way overrated, people are too obsessed with such garbage to appreciate beauty, art, and gameplay.

nice stairway, too, btw.

There has been some great work made with this texture set in the past
and its good to see you are keeping up the tradition, you really make
good use of it.

As a small suggestion, I think it would be cool to add some external
brushwork above the roof of the map to give the place more depth. The
first screenshot is a good example of where the map needs this - the
ceiling seems to be at an overly consistant height, try adding in some
towers or something.

i like the map, the textures are great.. but the image size almost makes me look elsewhere each time i look at this authors post.

now, i dare someone to tell me there is an appreciable difference between these two screen shots stands tapping foot

we still have to many 56k users to have pages of the 1-2 megs size on just everyday map subjects.. a critique is one thing, but profiles are for this stuff when the author posts screens of his pride and joy.

the screens are much to large.. the site they are uploaded to may be partially at fault, but my page loaded slow as hell and me on DSL..

Xat JPG Optimizer is calling to you.. USE IT!

to many people have already complained about this subject, soon it will go past complaining into arguing.. heed my advice.. use the program.
