I was forced to learn a language in school. Indonesian. I cant remember any of it. Maybe if I'd known someone from Indonesia and had a use for learning it, I might have done better.

Strangely enough, its near Australia, meaning its worth learning for
people who stay there (by "near" I mean relatively near, its still
pretty far away!).

<DIV>There is absolutely no reason anyone should learn Indonesian unless they wish to be hired by the Foreign Department. The only good thing in Indonesia is cheap stuff, and the guys who provide that usually speak English. Though I suppose there is cheap labour...</DIV>

Well, I didn't so much mean "worth learning" from a practical stand
point, just more a "chances are Australians may get to use it" one.
There is more point in an Australian learning it than a Scot, for
instance

Nope, for a full blown architecture degree, 7 years is, I believe, standard. Can't be having people designing things as important as buildings without a decent level of education in it after all!
