I bought this game yesterday, and it's quite an addictive game. I've got to like the fifth level, and it's been brilliant so far. I'm glad to see the creative collective over at Free Radical Design can pull off a single-player game just as well as they do in multiplayer (Timesplitters). For those who don't know what it is, it's a console game where you play as John Vattic, who wakes up in a hospital bed to find he's gained psychic powers. He doesn't remember why he's there, who he is etc, and the point of the whole game is to find everything out.
Not the most original of ideas, but it's very well executed. The nice balance between stealth and combat is cool, and I love the duel storyline thing it pulls off with the flashbacks. Not to mention having some amazing animation (the animations on the face of the security guard wheeling your bed at the beginning were really well done) and just plain looking great (for a console, that is ). It's definately worth picking it up. It starts off a bit slow, but once you get some of the more fun psychic powers and are given the chance to really show them off (spooking guards by throwing stuff around the room so you can sneak past is brilliant fun, and the projection power is too cool for words), it really shows off it's colours.
Anyone else managed to pick it up? What do you think? PS I know there was a thread on this two weeks ago, but I didn't want to bump it up and get flamed to death or get it closed or something.

I played the demo and wasn't hugely impressed, but then given that the
demo gave you bugger all time to play the game I guess its hard to form
an opinion of it. Insane, its a cross platform title, I think its on
all 3 of the consoles.

Looks OK but i'm waiting for Psi-ops, which has a similar theme but has been getting much better reviews (and I can't afford both of 'em!)

Insane: i think this is on PS2 to answer your question, dont quote me
on that though. the advert looked pretty good, and the fact its made by
the TimeSplitters / TSII folks is very encouraging
Otzman! i cant believe you didnt like TS2, admittedly it ripped off
GoldenEye in so many ways, but that can't be a bad thing. if you played
it on PS2 it was a bit cack, but i figure thats more to do with Sony's
inability to design good control pads - TS2 on the GC rox0rs

You may be right Gwil. I've heard others say that they like the
controllers for Xbox and GC better than the one for PS2. I played it on
PS2, tbh I don't like FPS games for PS2 very much and I haven't played
any FPS game for any of the other consoles, so I can't really compare
them.
I didn't like the graphical look very much either. However, playing multiplayer is fun when you have a couple of pals around!

I beleive it's on the Xbox as well.
And I like the PS2 control pad. I don't see how it's so hard to control an fps, it's really easy for me.

Maybe it's just easier with an Xbox or GC control pad. I mostly play
3rd person games like Silent Hill, fighting games and such on PS2.
