<DIV class=quotetext>You don't have to move to windows 2000 to improve on winME, windows 98 is better as well.
As for a solution, try going to system properties, and under performance, change the swap file size from 'let windows manage my swap file', to maximum and minimum values that are the same. Depending on hard disk space of course. If there is easily room for it, set it to a maximum and minimum size 512 megs. Otherwise, set it to a permenant value that you have got room for, but I wouldn't recomend setting it below 256.
Since it's only internet browsing that does it, have you tried updating the internet explorer version, or browsing the internet with a different browser? I'm not trying to get you to stop using IE, I just think trying a different browser would be a good way to isolate the cause of the problem, so that it can then be fixed  </DIV></DIV>
we musta posted at the same time cause i already covered win98, and yes i agree its superior to winME
secondly, of the three pc's all have done it, i also updated the first one fully at microsoft, to all known critical updates, it continued to do it just like this one .. which hasn't been to microsoft yet at all.
i will try the swapfile thing, but am ignorant as to how it will help, BUT any help is help so i will do it.
the ONLY THING all three comps have in common, i updated the video drivers (810 chipset) and the sound cards are all on (i added them, office comps do not come with sound.. all are soundblaster PCI128)
could it be the 810 drivers?? surely not??
