Hi all.

First, i am new around here, i am not sure if this is the right place to ask about this... so, forgive me if that is the case.

A few days ago, when valve updated the SDK, i was happy like a child. But when i tried to launch SDK from the Steam menu, an ugly error appeared, saying:

"Can't find steam.dll relative to executable path e:\valve\steam\steamapps\<my account name>\sourcesdk\bin"

and can't do nothing more than pressing OK.

I have tried to copy the file (steam.dll) that is in \valve\steam in to the folder's error, but then, another error:

"SteamStartup() failed: SteamStartup(0xf,0x12f69c) failed with error 108: The local Steam Service is not running"

Nothing more, i can't run SDK!!!! . I have tried to launch hammer, from the .exe file, but there are other errors. The main problem is that sdk don't start for me.

I have searched in google, in other forums, other web pages, and i found people with the same problem but with no solution. I have reinstalled SDK, and nothing. Only one thing remains, reinstall full Steam. But before doing that i want to know if somebody has fixed this error and how.

Thanks for your time. I hope i can fix this, because i want to make maps, and i can't :leper:

Wrong board indeed, this should go in Half-Life 2 editing.

Anyway, I'd say you should try validating your files. You can do so by running 'steam://validate/211' (e.g. typing that in the Run program, accessible in your Windows Start menu).

Are you sure you have searched http://www.steampowered.com ? Im quite sure I have seen this problem there. If so, have you tried uninstalling, deleting the sourcesdk folder and reinstalling? I had some trouble with the SDK and that worked.
