I've never had the need until now to take a screenshot, but I don't know how to. And after I take my screenshot, where does it put it? Thanks in advance.

You have to bind the key in the options menu.
It places it in your base half-life 2 folder (or hl2 within that I can't remember which).
Also, the reason why you can't use just print screen and past into a photoprogram of some sort is because the models will not be copied. If you or anyone was wondering.

This is the path they should be in. Obviously, replace the name and change the mod.
C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\twoknives\half-life 2\hl2\screenshots

One way to bind keys is in the console...but I think what he's suggesting is to just go into Options -> Keyboard, and the Screenshot option, which is in the second to last category called Miscellaneous.

holy crap man
load the game, go to options, click on keyboard, and scroll down to the screenshot key.
In fact, if you didn't change anything you just press F5 and it will take a screenshot ingame.

I dunno man, have you ever heard of the print screen button? Print screen and paste in a paint program.
Did you just start using a computer today?
EDIT: I would also like to note that this may be the first time I have ever used that smiley

I figured you already knew it was bound within HL2 since you placed the question in the hl2 editing forum.
Mike, that will only copy brushes, no models. (If anything)

Ok, it's getting a little hostile in here. Even if it seems obvious to us, it may not be completely obvious to some of our more n00bish friends

OK seriously, could you just tell me instead of hassleing me about what I don't know. I get the point. I now know how to do it in Half-Life 2 but not in Windows XP.

like Yak_fighter said, hitting the Print Screen button (or PrtScn) copies your entire screen to the clipboard. Then open up an image editing program, like Paint, Microsoft Photo Editor, Paint Shop Pro, etc. and paste it there. Voila...

Thank you Lep and Reno for giving me the answer. Thats all I wanted to know from the begining, and not all the hassleing. Your two answers should both be marked right.

I certainly hope you aren't going to attempt mapping or modmaking, because if you couldn't figure out what print screen does or how to use it...
