I follow the tut Reno made (at least I think I am) but as soon as I make my grassy area a displacement (power of 3) then look at it from below, you can see through it as if there is no brush there at all. If I look at it from above evrything is fine. When I compile I get leaks starting from below it. I boxed it in and its ok now but should I have to box all my displacement surfaces all the time?

Yes, displacement is just a surface. It doesn't act as a solid brush, so your map will leak unless you have something underneath it.

Make sure you use a nodraw texture for the brush beneath your displacement, because there is no point of having real texture when no one can see it.

Yes you dont see anything from underneeth in the editor, and you need to enclose it, read the leaks tut here at the snarkpit.
