You know what? I bet a bunch of the programs are getting all fux0red over that @ in the path... I've seen tons of people reporting problems like this. I still make my maps in a non-steamed install of HL elsewhere on my HD.

the best solution i can give to avoid any crisis involving HLCC..
put the tools into its own folder outside steam.
put the maps into a folder outside steam, and move it by hand (copy/paste)
start HL without HLCC (assuming it borks every time otherwise)
the command parameters (-dev -console) can be setup outside of HLCC as well..
HLCC is a great program, but it is also very old, you may have to accommodate it a bit..
