Wales survived some anxious moments to claim their first Grand Slam since 1978 with a historic victory in Cardiff.

[size=13] http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/international/4358121.stm - Full story.

A deserved and long awaited win, and full grand slam for Wales. The
Ireland side had the potential to ruin the winning streak and deny us
the Grand Slam, but on the day sloppy errors and tension got the better
of any coherence the Irish needed to put a dampener on the Welsh charge
to glory. Tries from Jenkins and Morgan out of the blue helped give
Wales the cushion and security they needed, despite a slight Irish
resurgence in a second half which saw both sides constantly being
verbally warned by the referee for scrappy, and tense scrums.

A fantastic and varied tournament which saw France and
England sidelined, ready for the Celtic nations to battle it out - and
inject international rugby union with the zest it needed.

In reverse order, those fantastic results that helped us win our rightful crown

I'll shut up now      Oh. Next time, it's the WORLD CUP!

Almost as big a fluke as England winning the World Cup. Although no one can ever beat that fluke.

Rugby sucks, football for the win!

Although be proud that your nation actually won something, they deserved it too from what I have heard.

It's a tougher and more testing game than that loser game "American
Football".. lets be big and tough and throw ourselves around, covered
in protective padding.

Pffft, go and get some padding on and have your watered down sports where the half time show is half the "entertainment"

And keep out my celebration thread, this is a BIG achievement for Wales so you can take your "funnies" elsewhere, TBH!

Well, you know in quantum mechanics it's infinitesimally possible that a monkey will spontaneously appear in the room I'm sitting wearing a Groucho Marx face and smoking a cigar and tells me an "Englishman, Irishman and Welshman" joke before disappearing again; I guess the same has happened here with Wales winning overall. Some would say that such an unlikely event as the scurvy Welsh winning has to be guided by divine powers, or by witchcraft, or other foul means, but I say it's one of those flukes that happen in the Universe that make our lives so magical and interesting, yet will never be seen again by the eyes of man.

/remembers to gatecrash Orph's next thread about some crappy American excuse for a "sport"

i know you are pokin fun again, but.. i did used to make corrugated containers. for about 8 years i suppose. anywho's we had what is known in the USA as 'the cardboard boat races"

you would be amazed at the creativity involved. these box boats must be 100% paper, and man powered.
anywho's.. you chaps have anything similar?

[edit] i wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see me in some of these shots. cardboard boat races

We have the Bognor Birdman rally http://www.birdman.org.uk/cgi-bin/buildpage.pl?mysql=30 which involves people jumping off the end of a pier and trying to fly, which I guess is similar, as this person shows:
