PC guru's

i am ordering a "bare bones" system soon, i have s**tloads of spare parts from several older pc's

my question, have the new generation motherboards changed enuff for me to be concerned with differences in compatability?

IE, are the "A" drive cables still the same, or the cables to the cdrom?

with the barebones system and my parts i have a complete 2.4 ghz system, but wonder about these things before i put my money into it.

has anyone built a new PC lately, that can answer this?

Seriously... That mo-bo is WAY overpriced for what it offers... Thats a nasty little waste of money right there. Just get a board that supports the RAM you're currently using, and something that has the same socket type as the processor you're using (Socket 478, I believe, for a P4), and you'll be set.

No reason to spend 100 bucks on that...

Go look at NewEgg.com , thats my backup for when my wholesaler just can't cut it.

Also, you DO know that that is a microATX form case/mobo, right?

They're my new favorite things, but you can get much better ones than that, and probably for much cheaper.

But for an overall deal, thats not too bad of a PC for just 189 bucks... Especially considering the fact that its all you'll need 'cept for the harddrive and video card (which I'm assuming you already have).

the motherboard, the processor, a stick of ram and the case for 189 bucks and free delivery is overpriced?

what i want, is prolly nothing compared to what i need :sad:

i want to make it easy upon myself, i have a few "A" drives, a DVD player, and a hard drive and video card to spare, all i am short are the case, MB and processor.. if you have suggestions on how to get a better deal and still fill my needs i am all ears..

i wont be offended at anything constructive you guys say, all i need is to save as much as i can and still be able to play the new games for a while.

i priced those things here in jonesboro, i cannot get them all for less than 300 bucks :sad:

Naw go for it.. I never looked at the bare bones system.. I was looking at the motherboard. 102 bucks for that motherboard is crap.

But the deal is not all bad.. 189 bucks for it is a good deal, and like you said your kid will love it.

I have gotten real used to building super systems for under 700 bucks including a 19" monitor.. I get all my stuff whole sale..

I do like AMD over Pentium, as long as you know how to deal with the extra heat AMD gives off.. your set. The Price is always right too.

I want to build a new 64 bit system.. just a tad scared, and costly.

if you can make me a deal for the 200 bucks i will spend anyways, tell me, i will send the money to your house..i would rather my friends benefit than a stranger anyday..

i have always owned AMD. was just curious about a pentium system this time is all, but my main goal is a maching above the 2.0 threshold, this 2.4 seems fair..

lemme know money, i would rather send my request your way than a strangers.

Orph.. You posted a link to a MoBo that was $107.00 and I said it was crappy.. here is a Soyo with dbl what you got on that one U listed, and its only $87.00 ( compair the specs ) Im pretty sure this is a much better buy.. it also features the Dragon 2.. and can hadle upto 3.8ghz processor..

i know there are better MB's out there, but i need a packaged deal, actually i need to be sure of compatability, so i chose a packaged deal..

the link i provided, pointed to a motheboard and processor pair with a case..

i wish i knew more about this stuff.. yes i want the best/fastest, but i also need to be sure all the pieces work together, i cannot afford to have incompatable parts :sad:
