Hi,

I'm trying to find working downloads for these maps:

http://www.snarkpit.net/maps.php?map=1249

http://www.snarkpit.net/maps.php?map=1158

There's probably others I can't find but let's start with those!!

Any help greatly appreciated.

I'd suggest going down this list looking for SP maps if you want some good stuff:

Blame it on Microsoft, God does.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm working my way through the list!!

The link you gave goes to the remodel, which also has a broken link!

Anybody have these files and can email them to me? Please.

I would never miss an opportunity to pimp my own maps.

"Escape from Black
Mesa"
was my first attempt at mapping. It's plenty tough,
but the non-linear gameplay really adds to the replay value. I
still play it myself every now and then. I wrote a comprehensive
walkthrough for this map.

"Museum Lockdown"
was my attempt at creating interesting architecture and lighting in a
map. You definitely won't find the architectural style in the
origin HL1 game, and the grunt fight is super-intense.

Now, arguably the best HL1 SP map I have ever played was
"Minimicus" by
SlayerA. The amount of creativity and gameplay design in this map
was simply off the scale. You shall not be disappointed.

Good luck. All these maps are pretty challenging. Prepare
to be killed often and practice your shooting before loading them up.

Have you tried those links? I am pretty certain that they're
working. I just downloaded those maps myself recently, and they
worked fine for me.

In fact, I just downloaded them again just now, and all three maps downloaded without a hitch.

Of course I've tried those links, how would I know that they don't work?

We are talking about the same thing? I'm talking about the links in my first post:

Oh no, we're not talking about the same thing. I thought you were
referring to the links that I've provided in the subsequent
posts. Sorry for the miscommunication.

By the way, I browsed your website, and I am flattered that you've
included my "Justice" map in your collection. Thanks a bunch.

No problem, I'll eventually have EVERY SP map released added. I'm trying to focus on the Lost ones ATM.

By the way, are you the same Phillip that ran the now defunct hl2mapping website?

Philip, you may want to mail the authors to see if they still have the maps.

Also, are you aiming to collect every single player map/mappack, or do you set a certain standard in terms of quality or length?

No, not me. Which one do you mean?

<div class="abouttext">Message submitted 3 minutes after original post:</b></div>
Captain P,

I have, that's why I'm here. I go through a strict process of Author, then forum followed by voodoo magic.

My last option was to contact the people who made comments about the
maps, I assume some have downloaded and played it. I prefer to
try forums before contacting people directly.

Regarding you question, no I don't set standards BUT I try and avoid
tech demos etc. Although I'm sure I've included quite a
few. One I definitely avoid are the Garry's mod ones, not that I
have anything against the mod it's just they aren't really playable etc.

Well, the thing is, if you don't set standards then any released map should be included. There's many 'first maps' that are just a mockup, an experiment. They're playable to some extend but nothing really more than that. But hey, if you're going for it all... check out http://tenfourmaps.telefragged.com/php/main.php. Maybe you know it already but judging by the amount of HL SP maps you've got listed so far, you haven't visited it yet. Check it out, it's a good site.

Not sure what you mean by "but judging by the amount of HL SP maps
you've got listed so far" I have 333 listed. I think that's
pretty good.

I'm a well-known regular at 10/4 but thanks for the link anyway.

You are right about not having standards but I prefer my open appraoch
than some subjective method. Unless anybody would like to set
down some guidlines to discuss.....

Mhh, I was only looking at the Released section. Heh, that's quite a good list there indeed. What's the idea behind the Released section and the normal section then? A bit non-intuitive navigation...

There's seems to be a problem with the database. The sub
categories have only recently been added but somehow the maps in the
released section only show if I add them manually rather than in the
batch method. So it's a slow process, along with all the other
tings that need doing to the site!

However, your visit highlighted the need for that issue to be fixed ASAP.

Consider it top of the list Captain!

BTW I'll add Playtest when I get home from work. It is HL1, isn't it?

Playtest is HL1, yes. Mod format. Thanks for adding it.

How much visits does your site get, bytheway? I had the idea it wasn't visited so often but that might be because there's no forum to check...

Oh, and when you fix the section system, those grey button-like icons in front of them could well work as expand/collapse buttons for sub-categories. Makes the menu shorter and so easier to navigate I think.

I get about a 1,000 unique visitors a day.

I'm currently working on a major revamp of the theme and that includes new navigation etc.

The new theme will be released on 01 Janaury 06. But I may update the menu with something easier to use next week.
