Trying to view any new rmf's through the 3d camera isn't working. I can
engage mouselook mode, but nothing is appearing. I switched the camera
to 2d / wireframe / flat etc to see if made it any difference, but no.

However, when loading src_lockdown, with the 3d camera in the top left
  • it works. Having tried with an old map, with 3d camera on the top
right, it worked there too, until i swapped it over and put it in the
top left. Hey presto, it vanished!

Any ideas?

Edit: found it!
#1. SDK rendering fixes
[size=13]We've
released a small Source SDK update to address the issue with the 3D
view rendering black in the Hammer editor. This update is now available
on Steam.

While we believe this update addresses the major rendering problems
that have been occurring, it is possible that some users may still see
some rendering abnormalities that we will fix with an additional update
next week. Our main focus was to get as many users back to a basic
functioning level as quickly as possible.

Please Note:
  • You may need to "Refresh SDK Content" from the Source SDK launcher before running Hammer.
  • Some video card/driver combinations may still see rendering
problems. Please let us know if you do by posting to this thread with
your video card model, video card driver version, and DirectX version,
if possible.
  • There is a known issue that there are rendering problems with
some special shaders, such as water and camera materials. These should
only occur in the Hammer editor and not in the game itself. This known
issue will be fixed with an SDK update.

i take it you tried clicking on one of the 2D views with the camera tool selected, as mentioned in the other threads? it solved a very similar sounding problem for lots of other people.

on a related note, i thought i'd lost the most recent version of my dod map because of an apparent camera bug. i added a couple of extra cameras, and hammer took some sort of siezure when i touched the 3d window. it done the exact same thing after every attemped restart. without going near the 3d window, a copy/paste of the whole map eventually worked, but it still lost all of my custom visgroups. woohoo! for steam updates.

Ive experince this bug as well (I think) where if you load a new map
the 3d view wont show up. I just use the camera tool to allign the
camera to the map in the 2d view, and it works after that.
