Sorry about being vague in the subject title, tell me to change it if needed...
Anyways, I'm... very to new the Hammer editor(2nd day), I have quite a bit of experience with the Unreal editor, though.
Whenever I buildcubemaps, I get that memory read error... It takes me about an hour to compile the map, I'm guessing because of the massive size... so I can't re-create the error message for now. I will re-create it if you guys can't figure out the problem. But when I build cube maps, it shows pictures of parts of the map from different angles, then it stops on one where it's showing the floor(which I used a reflective material on), I get the memory read error, and it exits back out to hammer. For a little more detail on the problem.. I posted the story.
So I'm making a map to make building vehicles and other large objects in garry's mod alot more convenient. I made a rather large portion of water on one side of the map. I read the tutorial on water in the help page for the Hammer editor, and it mentioned putting an env_cubemap(or whatever it was) on the water. I did that, so when I played the level, I looked at the water, and it acted as if a portion of the level wasn't covered from the outside, even though it was.
So I went back to the tutorial page, and I read that you need to buildcubemaps to make the reflective texture for the water... which would make sense. So I re-compiled the map, and opened console, and typed "buildcubemaps". It showed various pictures of the map from different angles. It continuosly stalled on a portion of the map where it shows the floor, the game exits out, and it shows an error message similar to:
"The reference at memory sector ______ could not be read."
I'm pretty sure it's not a problem with my software, I ran it on two different computers, and had the same problem.
I'm assuming it's just a problem with the way I did the map, and if the above information isn't enough, I'll write down the error message, and post links to download the map. Thanks for the help, and sorry if this is already posted. I couldn't find myself, just alot of similar problems.
I did not post my compile log because... it finishes compiling fine

i've seen problems occur with buildcubemaps when a cubemap is partially embedded in a brush. check that you don't have any of these.
