so all of my steam apps have started randomly freezing up and i have to exit out of the programs and start over to play them, Dark Massiah is the worst, with it this happens around once a minute. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Negative, and I haven't heard anyone else have that problem either. Try restarting Steam, checking for malware, and clearing the Task Manager of unnecessary processes before you play.

EDIT: What kind of hardware you got? and do you experience problems with any other programs?

done, my computer has plenty of memory, i have 2 GB RAM and 4 GB swap files along with a 3.6 GHz processor, my computers clean, i recently defragged it and i delete temp files all of the time

i don't understand what's causing it

Could be overheating issues too. Source engine turns your GFX card
quite hot when you have lots of goodies on. Although my best guess
would be the graphics drivers, especially if you're running an ATi
card, although they have a tendency to work with Source engine better
than with for example D3 engine.

no viruses
and graphics would seem an odd thing to be having problems with since everything worked fine a month ago, i had to reformat sometime last month and the only app i can run indefinately on steam is the sdk

this is very true, but the only change so far was that my computer crashed and now it's all freshly installed, so it should be "clean"

I reinstalled steam after not having used it for a long time a few days ago and installed Natural Selection. When I exit NS steam freezes and I have to Ctrl+Alt+Del and kill the process. Could it be related?
