Could be power surges, un-shielded speakers (and thus interference) could from from a myriad of sources. What speakers do you have?

it sounds like the magnetic fields of the monitor and the speakers are interfereing with each other.
ever put any thing magnetic near a monitor and seen the scanlines bend as the aiming magnet inside the monitor is distorted? It might be the same idea here.
a simple deguass will fix it if thats the case

Sounds like you're on the same circuit at the garage door and some other appliances. Look at your breaker box (or ask your parents to help you, if you don't know what you're doing) to see the circuit layout of your home.
You can also try to plug some things into another outlet, or better yet, other circuits.
Popping speakers, however, is interference. No other explanation, really. It's due to bare wires hitting some conductor, or poor shielding of the cables. Could be a number of things that are the root, however.
Picture manipulation on any sort of tube based visual system can be cause by a magnet. Or the monitor could be dying.
You should move your speakers away from the monitor, as most speakers contain magnets.
Blame it on Microsoft, God does.
