Ok, for my next project it will be a re-skin and makeover of one of the half life 2 maps. I understand that i have to use GCF scape or pakrat to extract the .bsp files and then decompile them with vmex. But what i need to know is where the .bsp files are located. I have searched this issue for about 40 minutes now and have found nothing. Thanks for your time.

"half-life 2 content.gcf" in the "steamapps" folder. Open it with GCF scape and search for the folder "valve/maps" it should contain all HL2 maps.

decompiled maps are ok to see how things were done, but don't expect to be able to compile them again
